A female pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle in Mississauga, Peel police have confirmed.
It happened on Lakeshore Road, west of Cawthra Road, at around 8:45 p.m.
According to police, the woman was crossing mid-block when she was struck by the vehicle. She was pronounced dead on scene.
“We are still determining her identity,” Peel police Const. Mark Fischer said.
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene.
Fischer said it was still too early in the investigation to say if speed was a factor in the fatal incident, or if charges would be laid.
The area is currently closed as police continue to investigate. Fischer expected the closure to last another two to three hours.
