A female has been rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being rescued from a house fire on High Park Boulevard near Parkside Drive and The Queensway Saturday evening.

Firefighters arrived on the scene shortly after 7 p.m. and found the home in flames.

They pulled one person from the back deck of the home and performed CPR on her. She was then rushed to hospital, paramedics said. Another woman took shelter on a balcony until firefighters could get her out of the home.

Neighbours told CP24 the person taken to hospital lived at the home.

One cat also perished in the fire.

Damage has been estimated at up to $500,000.

Firefighters on the scene told CP24 they believe the fire may have been related to the home’s electrical wiring.
