Firefighters spent hours battling a stubborn blaze at a cardboard recycling plant on Planchet Road in Vaughan on Thursday.

Cardboard inside the Reliable Waste Management facility, near Langstaff Road and Keele Street, was on fire and crews spent a considerable amount of time putting out hot spots, a Vaughan Fire spokesperson told CP24.

Firefighters were called to the building at about 7:30 a.m.

Heavy flames were reported on one side of the facility.

Firefighters smashed skylights to ventilate the smoke-filled building.

No injuries were reported.
