Fire crews battled a blaze at a water pumping station in Bolton for several hours Wednesday morning.

Footage from Chopper 24 showed flames shooting out of the roof of the building, as dark smoke drifted into the sky.

The building is located near Mill Street and Highway 50.

Shortly after they arrived on scene in the early morning hours, firefighters pulled out of the building due to unsafe conditions within. Fire crews then went into a defensive attack, using an aerial ladder to douse the flames.

No injuries have been reported.

A Caledon Fire spokesperson said the blaze was reported by a passerby.

Because the pump is house is offline, there should be no impact to water distribution to residents and businesses, the fire spokesperson said.

Bolton is about 50 kilometres northwest of Toronto.
