A former pastor who was convicted of manslaughter in the death of his pregnant wife has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Twenty-nine-year-old Anna Karissa Grandine was five months pregnant when she was found dead in a bathtub at her Scarborough home on Oct. 17, 2011.

A subsequent autopsy then found traces of the sedative commonly known as Ativan in Grandine's blood.

Grandine's husband Philip Grandine was initially charged with first-degree murder in the case, however a jury ultimately found him guilty of manslaughter in December.

During the trial, the trial the Crown argued that Grandine planned to kill his wife to continue an extra-marital affair he was having with one of his parishioners.

Grandine will serve 14 years and eight months in federal prison after time served is factored in.
