A 35-year-old woman was rushed to hospital with a life-threatening head injury after a gas tanker collided with a vehicle in North York early Saturday morning.

The woman was travelling northbound on Tangiers Road when her car was T-boned by a gas tanker that was travelling eastbound on Finch Avenue at around 8 a.m.

The woman was briefly trapped inside her vehicle but was extricated and taken to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre a short time later.

Police say there are no leaks or hazards as a result of the crash.

Finch Avenue is closed in both directions at Tangiers Road as police investigate.
