GM Canada plans to announce an investment in Canadian research and development this afternoon.
The investment is a condition of the automaker's bailout in 2009.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Finance Minister Jim Flaherty and Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty are scheduled to attend the announcement at GM's plant in Oshawa.
GM isn't providing any details ahead of the event, but there are reports the company will spend several million dollars on electric vehicle research and intelligent transportation systems.
