All lanes of Highway 401 have reopened after a serious tractor-trailer rollover east of Toronto after a closure that lasted most of holiday Monday.

The highway was closed between Cobourg and Grafton. It fully reopened just before 6 p.m.

Ontario Provincial Police said the westbound tractor-trailer rolled shortly before 10:30 a.m.

Police said the trailer became unhitched, hurtled over the concrete median and wound up in the path of an oncoming vehicle.

The tractor-trailer’s male driver and the female driver of the second vehicle were taken to hospital, where they received medical care for non-life-threatening injuries.

OPP are investigating the cause of the crash.
