An early morning chemical fire has delayed GO Train service on the Lakeshore East Line.

The fire broke out in the area of Coronation Drive and Chemical Court in Scarborough, east of Guildwood GO Station, shortly before 6 a.m.

About 30 minutes later, GO Transit said all service on the Lakeshore East Line had been suspended until further notice.

At around 7 a.m., GO Transit said trains had been given permission to proceed along the line once again. However residual delays are expected through the rush hour as a result of the temporary suspension earlier.

Nine fire trucks and 35 firefighters responded to the blaze with dry chemical extinguishers, bringing the fire under control at around 6:45 a.m.

Toronto Fire Service said no one was injured in the blaze and there was no hazard to the public as a result of the fire.
