Subway service was suspended along a portion of Line 2 for the entirety of Tuesday morning due to a fire investigation at Bloor-Yonge Station.

The fire was first reported shortly after 7 a.m.

It was initially believed to be relatively minor, however Toronto Fire later said that an electrical engineer and TTC supervisor had to be summoned due to some “electrical smoldering.”

By around 11 a.m. Toronto Fire confirmed that the main body of the fire had been knocked down.

However, service remained suspended between St. George and Pape stations until around 1:30 p.m.

During the service suspension, shuttle buses were dispatched to transport riders along the route.

Large crowds were also observed outside Broadview and Pape stations, as riders attempted to board shuttle buses.

“Crowds of people are walking into traffic,” police said in a message posted to Twitter earlier in the day.
