A 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged in relation to two bank robberies in the Weston area and north Etobicoke earlier this summer.

Police say that on July 15, a man walked into a bank near the intersection of Royal York Road and Eglinton Avenue West.

Investigators said the man showed a hold-up note to a teller, demanding cash and saying that he was armed.

The teller handed over an unknown amount of cash and the man fled the scene. He was wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses.

On June 26, police say a man walked into a bank near Weston Road and Lawrence Avenue West.

Investigators said the man approached the teller and showed a hold-up note that said he was armed and demanded cash.

The man then fled the scene with an unknown quantity of cash. He was seen wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap.

On July 21, police said a suspect identified as Javonte Daley of Toronto was arrested.

He has been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of wearing a disguise.

He appeared in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Friday morning.
