A 65-year-old Toronto man faces a dozen in charges in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a young girl over a three-year period.

According to police, the victim was enrolled in a home daycare on Glenburn Avenue, in the Victoria Park and St. Clair avenues area.

Police allege the girl was sexually assaulted between 2008 and 2011 by a man in the home who was not the operator of the daycare.

The victim was eight years old when the assaults began, police said.

On Wednesday, a suspect was arrested in connection with the case. Police believe there may be more victims.

Douglas Thorne is charged with four counts of sexual assault, four counts of sexual interference, and four counts of invitation to sexual touching.

He is scheduled to appear in court April 2.
