Toronto police have arrested a suspect in connection with a violent sexual assault that occurred in the city’s west end nearly three years ago.

Police say the arrest relates to a sexual assault that occurred in the Dufferin Street and Eglinton Avenue West area on July 15, 2011.

On Tuesday, police charged a suspect in connection with the case.

In November, the same suspect was charged following a separate violent sexual assault that also occurred in the area.

According to police, a man knocked on an apartment door in the Keele Street and Rogers Road area at around 5 a.m. on Nov. 24, 2013.

When the victim answered the door, the man forced his way inside, where he attacked, choked and sexually assaulted the woman.

Andrew Medford, 23, faces a number of charges in connection with the 2011 incident, including sexual assault with a weapon, threatening bodily harm and choking to overcome resistance.

In November, he was arrested and charged with a number of offences, including aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault with a weapon and choking to overcome resistance in connection with the incident on Nov. 24.

He appeared in court earlier this week in connection with the 2011 incident and was remanded into custody to Feb. 24.

Police believe there may be more victims.
