BOWMANVILLE, Ont. -- Police say an 18-year-old is facing charges after a man showed up at a Bowmanville high school with a collapsible baton to settle a score with a student.

Durham regional police say they were called to Bowmanville High School on Thursday afternoon when a teen, who was not a student at the school, arrived looking for a male student.

School officials called police and initiated a lockdown and the 18-year-old was arrested in the school parking lot.

A collapsible baton was seized and police say there were no injuries reported and the lockdown lasted for only a few minutes.

Brandon Horne of Bowmanville is charged with carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
