A man is in custody after police were led on a pursuit that ended with a crash early Wednesday morning.

A police spokesman said the pursuit began when officers were attempting to pull over a van near Bloor Street east and Jarvis Street shortly after 1 a.m., but the driver refused to stop.

The van grazed the police cruiser and drove off, police told CP24.

The pursuit continued to Falcon Street, near Eglinton Avenue East and Mount Pleasant Road, where the van crashed into a hydro pole.

After that collision, the driver got out of the van and tried to run away, but police caught up and arrested him after a short foot pursuit.

No injuries were reported.

Police have not commented on the charges the man is facing.
