Toronto police are looking for at least two suspects after a man was stabbed at an east-end subway station Friday evening.

Emergency crews were called to Main Street Station just before 7 p.m. for reports of a confrontation.

When they arrived, a man in his 20s was found inside the TTC Line 2 station suffering from stab wounds.

He was taken to the hospital, where he is in life-threatening condition.

“Initial investigation revealed that we are looking for potentially two suspects in this matter. Very few details on those suspects at this time. But we have officers actively looking for those suspects,” said Duty Insp. Scott Purches.

Police initially said the suspects were last seen on Danforth Avenue.

Purches said that apparently, there was an “interaction” between the suspects and the victims but cannot provide further details on what transpired.

He noted that officers are collecting surveillance video from the TTC and are canvassing the neighbourhood for evidence that could help in the investigation.

The incident led to subway trains bypassing the station. All buses and streetcars were also redirected.

Police are asking for anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
