The mild weather will continue on Tuesday but don’t get too comfortable – Environment Canada is warning of a rude reminder that winter is in fact still here.
A freezing rain warning has been issued for Toronto, the GTA and much of southern Ontario. Environment Canada says the area may get a couple of hours of freezing rain overnight.
While temperatures will remain above the freezing mark on Tuesday, a cold front is moving in.
The national weather agency is calling for a “mixed bag of weather” to hit southern Ontario in the coming days.
Whereas warm winds will bring in heavy rain at times throughout southern Ontario, the cold front could produce wet snow and freezing rain north of the city. The active weather could make for a tricky commute during the morning rush.
Both the warm and cold winds will be quite strong, according to CP24 meteorologist Chris Potter.
The cold front will force temperatures to drop drastically by Wednesday.
Though forecasters predict it will be -5 C, they are warning it will feel more like -12 with the wind chill.
In Toronto, Environment Canada is predicting the rain will end Tuesday afternoon but cloudy skies will prevail. A high of 4 C is expected but it should drop to 0 C in the late afternoon.
The city should expect flurries to start falling early in the evening. About two centimetres should fall, forecasters say.
