TORONTO — Roots Corp. says Meghan Roach has stepped down as president and chief executive as its go-private transaction with Marquee Brands has closed.

Roach has been in the CEO role since 2020 after first joining the company as interim chief financial officer in 2019.

The company says in a news release she will continue to serve in an advisory role to ensure a smooth leadership transition.

The go-private transaction was announced in August at a price of $4.10 per share and passed a shareholder vote earlier this month with more than 99 per cent support.

The company says Roots shares are now expected to be delisted “shortly” from the Toronto Stock Exchange.

Marquee Brands also manages the Martha Stewart, Laura Ashley and Roberto Cavalli labels and intends to expand Roots to other markets like Korea, India and Mexico.
