A 45-year-old man is dead after a collision involving a motorcycle and another vehicle near High Park early Saturday morning.

Police say that the Harley Davidson motorcycle was travelling northbound on Parkside Drive near Indian Valley Crescent at around 2:40 a.m. when it collided with a BMV car that was headed southbound.

The motorcycle rider was located without vital signs at the scene. He was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries a short time later.

A 27-year-old female passenger on the motorcycle was also injured in the crash, according to police. She was rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition, where she remains.

Parkside Drive was closed between Rideout Street and Howard Park Avenue as members of the Traffic Services unit conducted a full investigation, however the roadway has since reopened.

Police say that they are still looking to speak with the driver and occupants of a motor vehicle that was travelling northbound on Parkside Drive at the time of the accident. They say that investigators believe that vehicle was directly ahead of the motorcycle when the collision took place.
