A man was critically injured when his motorcycle crashed into the side of a car in Etobicoke early Friday morning.

Toronto EMS said the man, believed to be in his 60s, was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries after the crash at Royal York Road and Evans Avenue, just south of the Gardiner Expressway.

Police Const. Clint Stibbe told CP24 investigators are looking at speed, road conditions and traffic lights as factors in the crash, which occurred at about 5 a.m.

He said the motorcycle was southbound on Royal York when it crashed into the passenger side of a Ford Focus that was turning left onto Evans from Royal York’s northbound lanes.

Stibbe said the Ford Focus’ driver, a 57-year-old woman, was not injured but was shaken up.

The intersection was closed until about 10:15 a.m. for an investigation.
