Toronto police say a three-year-old boy who was spotted wandering around naked in the city's west end is now safe.

According to Const. Jennifer Sidhu, at around 1:30 p.m., police received a call about a child that was walking around without any clothes on in the area of Lake Shore Boulevard West and Twelfth Street.

Police say the child is OK but it appears the toddler has been taken to St. Joseph's Health Centre as a precaution.

After a few unsuccessful attempts to locate the child's parents, police say officers have now spoken to the mother, who will be questioned by investigators.

The Children's Aid Society has also been notified, which police say is standard procedure for situations of this nature.

The incident comes on the heels of the death of three-year-old Elijah Marsh, who wandered away from a North York apartment and out into the cold early Thursday morning.
