No injuries were reported after a fire broke out at a Scarborough highrise apartment building overnight.

It happened at 20 Gilder Drive, in the area of Midland and Eglinton avenues, shortly after 3 a.m.

Toronto Fire Capt. David Eckerman told CP24 that the fire was reported on the seventh floor of the building and some residents had to be evacuated.

About 20 people were required to shelter in place on a TTC bus.

Eckerman said at the height of the blaze, 20 trucks were on scene.

The fire was knocked down shortly after 3:30 a.m.

The fire was caused by an electrical issue with a laptop, which caught fire in the kitchen of one of the units.

It is not considered to be suspicious.
