Toronto police say an 18-year-old man charged with attempted murder in a weekend shooting is in custody.

Police said the 17-year-old male victim was shot in the torso outside an address on Woolner Avenue, near Jane Street and St. Clair Avenue West, early Sunday morning.

The suspect, who was armed with a handgun, chased the victim and fired several more shots at him before fleeing in a vehicle, according to police.

The wounded teen suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

After police issued an appeal for tips, a suspect turned himself in to investigators at 12 Division on Monday night.

Police said Jevaun Anthony Beharie is charged with attempted murder using a firearm, using a firearm to commit an indictable offence, unauthorized possession of a firearm and five additional offences.
