FERGUS, Ont. - Provincial police have charged a 74-year-old driver for racing northwest of Toronto.

OPP say an officer allegedly clocked a blue sedan driving more than 140 kilometres per hour in an 80 zone around noon on Sunday in Fergus, Ont.

They allege the driver was being careless as the car went through curves, forcing oncoming traffic to yield.

Police charged the driver with racing a motor vehicle and careless driving.

The 74-year-old is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 5, 2020.
