NIAGARA FALLS, Ont. - Police have stopped searching Ontario's Niagara River for more remains after a woman's torso was discovered last week.

They completed their search of the whirlpool to the Niagara Falls and didn't find anything, but say the search will resume if they get any new information

Investigators are calling the case a homicide.

But they say it's been tough trying to determine where the torso entered the water and where the crime occurred.

Preliminary post-mortem results indicate the torso is that of a Caucasian woman between 20 and 40 years old.

They also indicate the woman had a pierced navel and at least one caesarean section scar.

It's believed the torso had been in the water for four to 10 days before it was found.

Police have ruled out any connection to the discovery of the dismembered remains of a Toronto woman last month.
