Police say a young dog who broke free from its owner and ran away after the pair were struck by a tow truck in the city’s east end Tuesday evening has been located.

According to police, a 24-year-old woman was walking with the one-and-a-half year old Great Dane at the intersection of Danforth and Kennedy Road at around 5 p.m. when they were struck by a northbound tow truck.

The woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, but the dog ran from the scene before emergency crews arrived.

It is not known what injuries the dog, who goes by the name “Diesel,” sustained.
