Toronto police say a 28-year-old man who was fatally stabbed during a home invasion Thursday night was attacked as he stepped out of the shower.

Police said the stabbing occurred after two male suspects entered an apartment suite, occupied by four people, in a building on Bogert Avenue, near Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue, at about 9:15 p.m.

Police described the suite as a known drug den.

As a gun-wielding suspect demanded cash and drugs from one of the suite’s occupants, a second suspect, who was armed with a knife, walked to the bathroom and confronted the man as he was getting out of the shower, police said.

The man was stabbed several times.

After the suspects fled, the victim was rushed to hospital, where he died of his injuries, police said in a news release Friday.

The male suspects have light-brown complexions and are about five-foot-eight, police said.

Officers are reviewing surveillance video in an attempt to identify the males.

Anyone with information about the homicide, Toronto’s 20th of 2013, or anyone who was in the area around 9 p.m. and witnessed anyone unusual is asked to call investigators at 416-808-3200 or 416-808-7400, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).

The fatal stabbing is one of two homicides to occur on a violent Thursday night.

In the other incident, a man was killed in a shooting near Old Finch Avenue and Morningside Drive at about 8:30 p.m.
