Police are appealing to members of the public for new information about Mississauga’s ninth homicide on the year.

According to police, 36-year-old William Marcel Maassen was found without vital signs behind the Woodchester Plaza, located on Dundas Street near Glen Erin Drive in Mississauga, on Friday afternoon.

Police say the man was pronounced dead at the scene and the incident was subsequently ruled a homicide.

With the consent of the victim’s family, investigators have released a photo of Maassen and say they would like to speak with anyone who had contact with the 36-year-old on the day of his death.

Police say Maassen regularly visited with friends and acquaintances on the footpath that runs from the rear of the plaza to Thorn Lodge Drive. They say anyone with information pertaining to the case can contact investigators at (905) 453-2121, ext. 3205.
