Police are looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed a physical fight involving two high school students and a male parent in the Oak Ridges area of Richmond Hill on Friday afternoon.

According to York Regional Police, a group of students gathered near Briar Nine Park at around 3 p.m. on Friday to watch a fight between a student from Cardinal Carter Catholic High School and a student from St. Theresa Lisieux Catholic High School.

Investigators believe the two students intentionally met in the area to fight each other.

At some point during the fight, a parent of one of the students got involved. It’s unclear what high school the parent’s child attends.

A video circulating on Twitter show two young males fist fighting in the park, and an adult male punching another young male in the background.

A subsequent video shows a large group of young males confronting the same adult man, who is now bleeding from his head, around a black car on a residential street, and later swarming him, punching and kicking him repeatedly.

A spokesperson from the York Catholic District School Board said it is working with police to investigate and "determine the various students' level of involvement" in the incident.

The board says it will provide support and counselling to students who request it.

Police said they are aware of multiple videos of the fight being shared on social media and are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has information pertaining to it to contact at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7241 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
