A 17-year-old man who was injured in a mass shooting in Toronto this summer was shot again this past weekend.

The teen was riding his bike on Chester Le Boulevard near Victoria Park and Finch avenues at around 4:30 p.m. Sunday when he was shot in the upper thigh.

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder in connection to the incident.

The victim managed to get away after the other teen’s firearm malfunctioned.

He was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The victim, who can not be named because he too is a minor facing charges in the case, was one of 23 people injured at a barbeque on Danzig Street on July 17, police sources have confirmed to CTV News.

Two people were fatally shot that night at the community barbeque.

The police investigation into the shooting this past weekend took them back to Danzig Street.

Officers executed a search warrant at a home on the street and that’s where the 16-year-old suspect was apprehended.

He is charged with attempted murder and a string of gun and drug-related offences.

Sources say the 16-year-old also has a connection to the barbeque shooting but police would not say if they believe the two shootings are related.

Meanwhile, Avian Gooden, 18, of Toronto, was also arrested following execution of the search warrant at the Danzig Street address.

He is charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, possession of a firearm obtained by the commission of an offence, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, failure to comply with probation and possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition order.

Both men were scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning.

As part of the same investigation, police also charged the 17-year-old victim with a number of drug-related offences following the execution of a second search warrant at a home on Chester Le Boulevard Monday.

Neither he nor the 16-year-old suspect can be named under the terms of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
