The Edmonton Oilers have some new sweaters, and fans got a first look at them before the upcoming hockey season at Rogers Place on Saturday afternoon.
Oilers Fan Day is a time-honoured tradition that sees a family-friendly event with a variety of activities for both adults and children to enjoy before the regular hockey season starts.
Admission to Fan Day was free and included access to a locker room sale featuring game-used apparel and equipment, a look at a training camp open practice and appearances from Oilers alumni Eric Gryba and Steve MacIntyre.
Perhaps the most exciting time for the die-hard Oilers fans was the last-minute announcement that the end of Fan Day’s open practice would offer a first look at the new Oilers alternate jersey.
Alternate jerseys are designed to be worn when the team’s primary home and away jerseys would clash with their rival’s colours.
They often incorporate vintage-style throwbacks or have a pattern not normally seen in standard jerseys.
The new look is now available for pre-order on Edmonton’s Ice District website.
Edmonton Oil Kings fans also weren’t left behind during the event.
Appearances were made by former players Ben Carroll and Tyler Santos. There was also an opportunity to grab tickets for the home opener between them and the Red Deer Rebels at 4 p.m. Saturday.

The Oiler’s alternate jersey announcement was released in a video to X after the initial fan reveal. It saw mixed comments from fans on the Edmonton Oilers’ official account.
The NHL’s regular 2025-26 hockey season begins Oct. 7.
The Oilers will open their season with a home game Oct. 8 at Rogers Place against provincial rival Calgary Flames in a Battle of Alberta. Fans haven’t seen a match of its kind since the 2017-2018 campaign.
