A Kinburn, Ont., resident was the second-biggest winner the night the Toronto Blue Jays advanced to the World Series.
The Jays Care Foundation says Jane from Kinburn, a community in Ottawa’s west end, won the 50/50 Jackpot for the American League Championship Series, with the take-home prize of $3.5 million.
“Jane received a life-changing call that she is now a multi-millionaire!” the Jays Care Foundation said in a post on X Tuesday afternoon.
The winning number was 398350763.
The Blue Jays beat the Seattle Mariners 4-3 Monday night to win the American League Championship Series in seven games. The 50/50 Jackpot draw for the American League Championship Series ran from Oct. 11 to 21.
Game one of the World Series is Friday night against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Jays Care Foundation sells 50/50 tickets online, with draws for the American League Division Series, the American League Championship Series and the World Series.
Dale from Sudbury, Ont., won the 50/50 prize during the ALDS, taking home $1.245 million.
“Your purchase of a 50/50 ticket helps give kids facing barriers the opportunity to get active, build life-long friendships, and find a sense of belonging in their community,” the Jays Care Foundation said on its website.
“Thank you for choosing to participate in the 50/50 draw, and for helping kids in your community be a part of the team.”
Tickets for the World Series 50/50 Jackpot are now on sale. As of 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, the winner jackpot was already $267,695.
