Number 99’s last National Hockey League game jersey is up for auction.
A lot with Classic Auctions said the New York Rangers jersey was worn on April 18, 1999, for pre-game ceremonies and the first period of Wayne Gretzky’s last game as a professional hockey player.
Bidding started at US$10,000 and was at US$374,162 with just over four hours left to place a bid.

The jersey also comes with a copy of Sports Illustrated’s April 26, 1999 issue with Gretzky on the cover wearing the very same sweater.
Often referred to as “the Great One,” Gretzky played in Edmonton from 1979 to 1988 where he won four Stanley Cups with the Oilers. He then went on to play for the Los Angeles Kings until 1996 before a brief stint in St. Louis. He spent the last three years of his career with the New York Rangers.
Gretzky played his final game against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Madison Square Garden. The Rangers were defeated 2-1 in overtime.

The Brantford, Ont., native finished his career with 2,857 points in 1,487 games played, four Stanley Cups, 18 NHL All-Star Game appearances and dozens of other accolades, including 61 NHL records, 55 of which he still holds.
Bidding on the jersey closes Tuesday at 8 p.m. MT.
