The PWHL playoff game set to take place Monday night between the Montreal Victoire and the Minnesota Frost has been postponed due to “player safety concerns related to illness.”
The winner-take-all Game 5 of the semifinal series was expected to take place Monday night at Place Bell in Laval.
The PWHL announced the game will now take place Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Place Bell.
“The decision was made following consultation with medical personnel and in accordance with the league’s commitment to the health and well-being of players, fans, staff and all those involved in the competition,” the PWHL stated in a news release.
There is no confirmation so far when the match will take place, but an update will be provided within the next day, the league stated.
“Medical assessment has determined that the symptoms are not consistent with hantavirus,” the league confirmed.
All tickets for Monday’s game will be honoured for the rescheduled date. Fans unable to attend the rescheduled game will be provided with refund information at a later time.
It’s not the only high-stakes game happening on Tuesday. The Montreal Canadiens will face the Buffalo Sabres for Game 4 at the Bell Centre, also at a 7 p.m.
