Toronto Tempo hosts Portland Fire in first meeting of WNBA expansion teams

TORONTO — The Toronto Tempo host the Portland Fire tonight in the first-ever meeting between the two WNBA expansion teams.

Toronto (3-3) is returning to Coca-Cola Coliseum after a four-game road trip.

The Tempo won two of those four games and sit 10th in the 15-team league.

Hamilton’s Kia Nurse scored 23 points in Toronto’s 100-72 loss to the Minnesota Lynx on Thursday.

Bridget Carleton of Chatham-Kent, Ont., led Portland (2-3) with 16 points and three rebounds in a 90-73 loss to the Indiana Fever on Wednesday.

Portland and Toronto are both in their inaugural WNBA seasons.
