Golf Canada has announced that the National Capital Region will be hosting the 2027 CPKC Women’s Open.
The 2027 tournament, the 53rd playing of Canada’s National Women’s Open championship, returns the event to The Royal Ottawa Golf Club in Gatineau, Que., from Aug. 18 to 22, 2027.
“Gatineau is a passionate golf community, and we are excited to return to the province of Quebec and the National Capital Region for the CPKC Women’s Open. The Royal Ottawa Golf Club have been incredible partners to Golf Canada over the years, and we extend our sincere thanks to the membership and staff,” said Golf Canada chief operating officer Garrett Ball. “We are equally proud to partner with Ville de Gatineau, Tourism Outaouais, the City of Ottawa and Ottawa Tourism as we work collectively to deliver a memorable experience in 2027.”
The Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club hosted the CPKC Women’s Open in 2022. The Royal Ottawa Golf Club previously hosted the tournament in 2000.
“For the CPKC Women’s Open, we get almost all the top 100 players on the LPGA tour. So, the best players on the planet will be coming to Ottawa and specifically here to the Royal Ottawa to compete for the CPKC Women’s Open,” said Golf Canada CEO Laurence Applebaum. “If you haven’t seen it yet, to see live golf and to see live women’s professional golf is such a spectacle.”
Last year’s tournament was in Mississauga, Ont., and was won by Smiths Falls, Ont.’s Brooke Henderson, who, with 14 LPGA wins, has won more golf titles than any other professional golfer in Canadian history.
“I’m so looking forward to coming home and seeing all of the passionate fans as the best of the world compete at the CPKC Women’s Open,” Henderson said in a video posted to social media.
The annual tournament also raises money children’s heart health in host communities through the CPKC Has Heart program.
“Gatineau is proud to host the 2027 CPKC Women’s Open and to welcome such outstanding talent to our community. This is the kind of event that showcases our city, generates momentum, and highlights the important place women’s sport deserves,” said Gatineau Mayor Maude Marquis-Bissonnette.
“We think about $30 million in economic effect of this event. We believe there will be about 65,000 people that will be coming here for this event. So, it’s certainly a huge event for the region and I certainly hope that a lot of people in Gatineau will enjoy this occasion.”
The Royal Ottawa Golf Club is on Aylmer Road in Gatineau, approximately six kilometres west of Parliament Hill.
“The Senior Management team and I look forward to working with the many volunteers who will make this event a success. With the support of the Ottawa Valley golf community, we aim not only to host a memorable championship but also to raise impactful funds for local charities through the CPKC Has Heart program,” said Royal Ottawa Golf Club general manager Greg Richardson.
This year’s tournament is being held Aug. 19 to 23, in Edmonton.
