TORONTO — The Toronto Blue Jays selected Austin Voth to the major-league roster on Wednesday and optioned fellow right-hander Tanner Andrews to the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons.
Voth was active for the Blue Jays’ matinee against the Miami Marlins at Rogers Centre, the team said in a news release.
The Blue Jays also transferred catcher Alejandro Kirk to the 60-day injured list. The move created a spot for Voth on the 40-man roster.
Kirk, who has been on the IL since April 4 due to a left thumb fracture, is eligible to return as early as June 3. He’s expected to begin a rehab assignment next week.
The 33-year-old Voth, who made one appearance with the Blue Jays last April, was 1-2 with a 2.90 earned-run average over eight starts with the Bisons this season.
Later Wednesday, the Blue Jays acquired right-hander Connor Seabold from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for minor-league left-hander Juanmi Vasquez.
Seabold, who made his big-league debut in 2021, was 1-0 with a 3.45 ERA over 11 relief appearances for the Tigers this season.
The 30-year-old signed a minor-league deal with Toronto in the last off-season and made six appearances at spring training as a non-roster invite. Vasquez, 22, was 0-3 with a 5.87 ERA over 12 appearances this year at High-A Vancouver.
The Blue Jays also transferred right-hander Jose Berrios to the 60-day injured list. He recently underwent season-ending elbow surgery.
