These six Quebec soccer players are on Team Canada’s World Cup squad

Head coach Jesse Marsch will name the final squad of 26 players who will represent Canada at the FIFA World Cup. Heather Wright has more on the announcement.

Quebec footballers are again heavily represented on Team Canada’s 26-man soccer team heading to the World Cup, beginning next month.

Six players from the province will be part of Jesse Marsch’s squad.

Moïse Bombito (Montreal), 25, OGC Nice (Ligue 1, France)

Defender

Bombito developed as an up-and-coming defender with CS St-Laurent in Montreal before joining the Colorado Rapids in MLS in 2023. He played two seasons and was signed by Nice in 2024.

He played for Canada in the 2023 Gold Cup and 2024 Copa America.

Mathieu Choinière (St-Alexandre), 27, LAFC (MLS)

Right winger/midfielder

Choinière played for AS Haut-Richelieu in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu before joining CF Montreal in 2018, where he played until 2024. He joined LAFC in 2025 on loan from the Swiss side Grasshopper Zurich.

He played for Canada at the Copa America in 2024.

Maxime Crépeau (Greenfield Park), 32, Orlando City (MLS)

Goalkeeper

Crépeau honed his shot-stopping skills in Candiac on Montreal’s South Shore and joined CF Montreal (then Montreal Impact) in 2013.

He has played for the Vancouver Whitecaps, LAFC, Portland Timbers and now plays for Orlando.

He was part of Canada’s World Cup squad in Qatar in 2022 but broke his leg before the tournament. He played in the 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2025 Gold Cups, and played in the 2024 Copa America.

Luc de Fougerolles (London, UK), 20, Dender EH (Belgian Pro League)

Defender

Fougerolles was born in London, England, but his father was born in Montreal.

He began playing his youth soccer for Fulham’s academy at eight years old and signed for the senior team in 2023. He was loaned to Dender EH in Belgium for the 2025-26 season and played in 27 matches.

He played for Canada in the 2024 Copa America and 2025 Gold Cup.

Ismaël Koné (Montreal), 23, US Sassuolo (Serie A, Italy)

Midfielder

Born in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, Koné immigrated to Montreal in 2010 and grew up in Montreal, where he started playing with the AS Notre-Dame-de-Grâce ​Panthers. He then played for CS Saint-Laurent before signing with CF Montreal in 2021.

Koné then signed with English championship side Watford in 2022, before moving to Olympique Marseille in 2024, and being loaned to Sassuolo in 2025.

Koné played for Canada at the 2022 World Cup, the 2023 Nations League and 2024 Copa America.

Nathan-Dylan Saliba (Longueuil), 22, RSC Anderlecht (Belgium)

Midfielder

Saliba honed his skills at CS Longueuil ​before signing with CF Montreal in 2020, where he played until moving to Europe and signing with Anderlecht in 2025.

Saliba played on the 2025 Gold Cup Canada side.
