The Toronto Raptors announced the signing of centre Jamarion Sharp on Monday.

Guard Chucky Hepburn has been waived in a corresponding move.

The 7-foot-5 Sharp was named the G League’s Defensive Player of the Year last season, posting averages of 7.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.1 blocks and 25.1 minutes in 39 games with the Texas Legends.

He blocked five or more shots in 15 separate games, including a season-high nine in a game against the Oklahoma City Blue.

The 25-year-old undrafted rookie has spent the past two seasons with the Texas Legends -- the G League affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks -- following a collegiate career at Mississippi, Western Kentucky, and John A. Logan College.

The Raptors play three more preseason games against the Knicks (Oct. 12, 15) and Pistons (Oct. 16) before opening their regular season against the Chicago Bulls on Oct. 21.
