Former UFC fighter Tim Kennedy is being treated for injuries following an attack that left 20 people dead or wounded and Kennedy nursing three gunshot wounds in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Reuters reported.

The former U.S. Army Green Beret is receiving treatment at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, per reporting from Newsweek. He originally sustained the injuries on Sept. 17 during an attack in the South Kivu province.

Derrick Van Orden, a U.S. Congressman from Wisconsin, provided an update on Kennedy’s situation over the weekend on social media, saying he was “thankful” that Kennedy, 47, was still alive while “asking everyone to pray for his healing and that his wonderful family find Peace.”

Kennedy was reportedly part of a private security firm, Vectus Global, doing operations in the area.

Kennedy’s record in MMA was 18-6, with his last match being a loss against Kelvin Gastelum in 2016.

His biggest highlight moment might have been his knockout of Rafael Natal at “UFC: Fight for the Troops 3” in late 2013.
