Yorkdale Shopping Centre released the following statement early Sunday morning after one person was killed and a second was wounded in a shooting in the mall's parking lot:
"Like all Torontonians, we were shocked with the incident that occurred outside Yorkdale in the parking lot on Saturday evening.
The matter is under the control of Toronto Police, and we are cooperating with them fully to support their ongoing investigation.
We take security at Yorkdale very seriously in order to keep our customers safe.
We have regular patrols in the parking lot, well trained personnel inside and outside of the shopping centre, and security cameras monitoring most areas of the property.
We want to thank Toronto Police for their rapid and thorough response and to thank our patrons for their patience and cooperation as the police continue to conduct their investigation.
