Montreal police say they've arrested a Toronto man who was being sought on a first-degree murder charge in his mother's death.

Manuel Couture says 25-year-old Justin Scott was arrested this afternoon in Notre-Dame-de-Grace, a west-end neighbourhood.

He will be transferred to Toronto police.

The body of 65-year-old Linda Scott was found Tuesday afternoon in an apartment she shared with her son near Danforth and Woodbine avenues.

According to police, there were visible signs of trauma on the body.

Toronto police had suggested Scott might be in the Montreal area.
