Police in Toronto have issued a public safety alert following the discovery of a thumb tack in a child’s Halloween candy in the city’s east end.

According to police, parents were checking their child's candy today around dinner time when they discovered the tack pressed into a miniature chocolate bar.

The discovery was made in the Eastwood Road and Woodbine Avenue area.

No injuries were reported.

Police are reminding parents to thoroughly check all Halloween candy.
