An 87-year-old woman is dead after she disappeared from a Toronto seniors' residence early Friday morning.

Kathleen Pollock disappeared from the residence on Don Mills Road and was found at the home where she and her husband used to live near Kingston Road and St. Clair Avenue East in Scarborough.

She was rushed to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

When she was found, the temperature was below the freezing mark, but it is not known if the cold was a factor in the woman’s death. She suffered from some medical conditions, including the early onset of Alzheimer's, police said.

Police set up a command post and scoured the neighbourhood after Pollock was reported missing. Officers also went to the couple's former home, a now-vacant mansion on Pine Ridge Drive, where Pollock was found without vital signs.
