Two people have been charged after a nightclub bouncer was shot early Friday morning on King Street West.

He was sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the bouncer was shot during an altercation with a suspect inside Cobra Nightclub on King Street West, just west of Spadina Avenue, around 2:05 a.m.

The shooting victim is expected to recover, police told CP24.

After the shooting, the suspect was transported to hospital to be treated for an injury he suffered during the incident. As that man was loaded into an ambulance, bags covered his hands in an attempt to preserve potential gunshot residue evidence.

Police spokesman Const. Victor Kwong said a second person was arrested, and officers recovered a firearm.

Authorities have still not said what charges the suspects face.

Rash of shootings

Friday’s shooting is the latest in a rash of gunplay in Toronto this week.

Police have responded to at least eight shooting incidents since late Saturday night.

On Thursday night, a man was shot in the head and shoulder in a parking garage at an apartment building on Forest Manor Road, near Sheppard Avenue and Don Mills Road, police said.

The man was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Earlier in the week, 26-year-old Christopher Kotsopoulos was fatally shot at a housing complex near The Queensway and Windermere Avenue on Monday night.
