Two firefighters have been suspended by Toronto Fire Services over comments they posted on Twitter, and it appears two of the tweets in question were uncredited references to quotes from TV shows.

Frank Ramagnano, a Toronto Professional Fire Fighters Association spokesman, confirmed the suspensions, but declined to identify the firefighters or provide details about the nature of the tweets because of an ongoing investigation.

According to the National Post, one of the tweets reportedly read, “Reject a woman and she will never let it go. One of the many defects of their kind. Also weak arms.”

That tweet is identical to a line uttered by the character Dwight Schrute on the sitcom "The Office." The quote was included in an episode from 2006, according to IMdb, the online movie and TV database.

Another tweet in March from the same account read, “I’d never let a woman kick my ass. If she tried something I’d be like Hey! you get your b---- ass back in the kitchen and make me some pie,” the newspaper reported.

It appears that tweet was lifted from a line by "South Park" character Eric Cartman in an episode from the raunchy cartoon's first season in 1997.

The Twitter account has been suspended.

According to the report, the second firefighter tweeted: “would swat her in the back of the head been considered abuse or a way to reset the brain?”

That account is set to private, meaning the tweets can only be seen by the account's followers.

In an interview with the National Post, Toronto Fire Services Chief Jim Sales said the tweets were unacceptable.
