Two missing Toronto children have been located in the Wellington area and are unharmed, Toronto police say.

Ontario Provincial Police found the children after spotting a vehicle that police had been looking for in connection with the disappearance of the children.

One person has been taken into custody as a result.

The children –- a boy and a girl –- disappeared after being dropped off at two separate schools in the Don Mills and Sheppard Avenue area Monday morning.

Shortly afterwards, the woman received a call from both schools saying her children couldn’t be located.

There were conflicting reports about the children's ages but it is believed they are between nine and 12 years old.

Police had said they believed the kids may have been with their father who is estranged from his wife.

The identity of the person taken into custody in connection with the incident has not been revealed and the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the children are not known.

Investigators did not issue an Amber Alert in the case.
