OTTAWA - The University of Ottawa says all students, faculty, staff and visitors coming to campus this fall will need to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

It says those intending to access the campus on or after Sept. 7 must have a first dose, and those attending as of Oct. 15 need a second dose.

The university says individuals must provide proof of vaccination status prior to their return through the school's COVID-19 Assessment tool as of Sept. 1.

It says those who can't be vaccinated based on medical or other grounds can request accommodation.

The university says unvaccinated people who must access campus will have to follow strict health protocols, such as frequent testing.

It says the requirement will help keep its community safe and contribute to stopping the spread of the virus.

In July, Seneca College in the Greater Toronto Area also announced it would require vaccinations for students and employees coming to campus for the fall term. It said fully-online and remote classes and work were not affected by the policy.
