Those getting around the city this weekend will have a number of road closures to look out for. There are two big events that will see a number of roads closed between Friday and Sunday.

Canadian Tire Ultimate Playoff Party

Starting Friday at 7 p.m., Front Street will be closed between Simcoe and John streets. The road will reopen Sunday at 7 a.m.

Drivers can use a number of alternatives, including King Street, Adelaide Street and Wellington Street.

Toronto Yonge Street 10k Run

On Sunday, Yonge Street is expected to be closed between Lawrence and Erskine avenues from 6 a.m. to prepare the formation area for the Toronto Yonge Street 10k Run. From 9 a.m., the closure will be extended down Yonge Street all the way to Richmond Street.

  • Fort York Boulevard will be closed from Bathurst to Fleet streets from 6 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Fleet Street's westbound lanes will be also shut down from Strachan Avenue to Fort York Boulevard from 6 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

A number of other streets will also be shut down along the route between 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. They include:

  • Richmond Street from Yonge Street to Peter Street
  • Peter Street/Blue Jays Way between Richmond Street and Front Street
  • Westbound Front Street between Blue Jays Way and Bathurst Street
  • Bathurst Street from Front Street to Fort York Boulevard

Organizers say roads will reopen after all runners have passed through an intersection.

Drivers looking for an alternative north-south route are advised to take Bayview Avenue or Avenue Road.

Subway closures cancelled

While the TTC had previously planned to shut down a section of the University-Spadina subway line for repairs over the weekend, the commission said Friday the closures had been cancelled.
