A woman is dead following a two-vehicle crash in Vaughan on Monday morning, York Regional Police say.

Police said the woman was a passenger in a car that collided with a truck on Highway 27, near Nashville Road, shortly before 10:45 a.m.

The car was travelling south on Highway 27 when it crossed the centre line and collided with the oncoming truck, police spokeswoman Const. Rebecca Boyd said.

The woman was a passenger in the front seat, police said.

Her injuries were initially believed to be non-life-threatening, but her condition worsened as she was transported to hospital, police told CP24.

A second female passenger and the car’s male driver were all taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The male driver of the truck was not injured.

Highway 27 is closed near Nashville Road for a police investigation.
